  • How long does the job take?

We’ll work with your schedule during our roof repair and replacement projects and will do our best to stay within the time frame we set. Of course, there are some factors we can’t control, such as weather, the permitting process, and inspection times.

  • What are the pros and cons of asphalt shingles?

Asphalt (composition) shingles are the nation’s most popular roofing material because they do a good job and are available in a range of colors, shapes, and styles to fit just about any home. They may not be as long-lasting as tile or metal roofs, but they can still protect your home from anywhere between 20 to 40 years! Plus, they’re easy to repair.

Shingle life varies with the quality of the product, as does the manufacturer’s warranty, and of course, the quality of the installation process also is an important factor.

  • Are you licensed and insured?

In both cases, yes. Our license/certification number includes FL Licenses: CCC1332629 and CBC1264425, and we are insured for $1,000,000 per incident, as well as $2,000,000 in the aggregate.

  • What are the indicators of a roof problem?

    • Leaking attics and ceilings
    • Bare, thinning spots on asphalt shingles
    • Curling shingle edges
    • Broken tiles
    • Visible wind damage
  • Do you obtain permits?

Yes, we pull permits for your project, as it’s an essential part of any roofing project. We’ll be happy to sit down with you and explain any part of the process you don’t understand or want to understand better.

  • What about job site cleanup?

Florida state code requires that we remove every nail from a roof before we install a new one, which means we may be dealing with over 10,000 nails! Platinum Roofing & Restoration FL, LLC uses tarps and magnets to try to prevent any nails from remaining in your yard, but please understand that nails are small, and some get missed by our magnets. That said, we maintain a “clean as you go policy” and do our best to clean up the job site every day. We also recycle!

  • What roof shingles are the best quality?

In our opinion, TAMKO makes the best shingles in the industry. The TAMKO Edge® program enables certified contractors like us to offer one-of-a-kind longer warranties, and we’re also able to take advantage of the TAMKO state-of-the-art digital contractor platform to manage rewards, funds, marketing tools, and other manufacturer services. Of course, we can install shingle roofing from other major manufacturers, so be sure to ask about all your options.

  • Will metal roofs last longer than standard asphalt and wood shingle roofs?

Yes, when correctly installed by our experienced professionals, metal roofs can last up to 50 years or more, while asphalt and wood shingle roofs have an average lifespan of between 15 and 30 years. In addition, metal roofs are far stronger when it comes to resisting extreme weather, including hurricanes!  They are not prone to weather-related damage from high winds and heavy rains, and metal roofs require fewer repairs and replacements than shingles.

  • What can cause tiles to crack?

Several factors can contribute to damaged roof tiles.

    • Deterioration of the tiles due to age
    • Deterioration of the underlying decking and supports
    • Poor installation methods
    • Foot traffic that cracks and breaks the tiles
    • Falling objects like branches, large hail, or debris thrown during hurricanes and other harsh weather events
  • How long does it take for a roof insurance claim to be approved?

In most cases, it can take up to two months, though sometimes a large catastrophic storm will actually lead to more rapid settlements! Still, because there are so many claims, you may encounter delays in meeting with an insurance adjuster. In any case, we’ll work with your insurance company to ensure your claim and roof project moves forward as quickly as possible.
